The coast of the regions Marche and Abruzzo is a continuation of the renowned "Costa romagnola", it is rich in tourism facilities, livable, clean and well equipped, this year the coast has been rewarded with 30 blue flags of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education).
The criteria to win the flags include: the validity of bathing water, the absence of discharges, compliance with an environmental plan for coastal development, clean water and beaches, restrooms, etc. ... features that everyone expects to find when he goes for vacation to any resort.
Well, most of the sites of the Marche and Abruzzo coast meets many of these characteristics, we're talking about the well-known Pesaro, Ancona, Gabicce, Fano, San Benedetto del Tronto, Alba Adriatica, or Tortoreto Roseto degli Abruzzi, just to name a few.
So why not choose one of these places to spend your summer vacation? With family or friends, to enjoy the sea or visit one of the beautiful parks overlooking the Adriatic, to practice a sport or simply to relax ... these places offer answers to every request.
Starting from the north we encounter the first Blue Flag: Pesaro, an ideal place for families and for anyone wishing to get away from the chaos of large cities.
Although overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Pesaro is situated between two hills: Ardizio and the San Bartolo hill, which is located on the Regional Natural Park of Monte San Bartolo, a park almost unique because of its high cliffs.
The cliffs offer a spectacular landscape with a succession of spurs, valleys and sheer cliffs, a horizon very unusual for bathers lying on the sandy beaches typical of the Marche coast!
In summer Pesaro is the place to look for peace and quiet but it doesn't mean that the people who goes there has to give up leisure activities typical of coastal towns because in the summer months the city is alive with fairs, concerts, and festivals food and wine for all tastes, such as "Concerti al calar del sole", a series of fascinating events that take off every evening at sunset, or the "Notte arcobaleno", a "White Night "in which musicians celebrities perform until dawn and the old town becomes a mosaic of colors.
Continuing south we encounter the famous Riviera delle Palme which extends up from Cupra Marittima to San Benedetto del Tronto via Grottammare all places awarded blue flags and with the common denominator of the promenade with palm trees, recreational areas, fountains and pines.
San Benedetto plays an important role, it is fundamental since years in fisheries and tourism, but it would be a mistake to neglect his cultural, artistic and gastronomic vocation which is reflected in the monuments (the imposing of the Rock Mastio , the characteristic Cathedral of Santa Maria della Marina ...), museums (eg the amphora or Palazzo Piacentini, Centre for Contemporary Art) and in events like "Love Chocolate".
Continuing to decline and crossing the border of Marche in the equally multifaceted we enter the Abruzzo coast, and from north to south there are 7 beautiful towns in the order: Martinsicuro, Alba Adriatica, Tortoreto, Giulianova, Roseto degli Abruzzi Silvi Marina Pineto and are the so-called "Seven Sisters" each with its beauties, each with its riches, but all boast, this year, by the blue flags.
Let us dwell in Alba Adriatica, one of the most beautiful seaside resorts of Abruzzo, Alba has a very clean sea and two miles of silvery beach well equipped with recreational facilities for both young people and families.
The city responds, in fact, each year to the great demand of tourists with more and more comfortable hotels, residences and camping that ensure the maximum comfort to the holidaymakers, and a few kilometers from the coast you can visit some of the most beautiful national parks in Italy: the National Park of Gran Sasso, the Majella and the Abruzzo National Park.
The most famous summer festival in Alba Adriatica is almost certainly the summer carnival held every year in August, the "Albacarnaval" is a colorful event where companies disguised and floats in a parade alternate cheerful and mildly sparkling.
We conclude our overview of the Marche, Abruzzo coast with a view over the city of Vasto, one of the most populous and rich in monuments of the coast and one of 25 beaches' Fit for Children "given by the Italian paediatricians.
Its coastline, also renamed as the "Golden Bay", extends for about 20Km and the most characteristic trait is conferred by the regional natural reserve of Punta Aderci, constituted a protected area along the coast to harmonize 's a tourist with the natural balance.
Visit the reserve is one of many possible activities in the area for those wishing to distract from the cool shade of tan and many pine trees found along the various trails in the area.
One of the most typical of the city is also its rich artistic and cultural Sant''Antonio of Padua's Church, the ruins of the convent of St. Francis of'Assisi, the Palazzo d'Avalos, castles and many towers are just some of the beauties of Vasto.
Invariably, the city offers visitors exhibitions, festivals and activities of all kinds such as "Music on the beach" a series of concerts on the beach, the Mercato di San Rocco with handicrafts and folk music all dedicated to the bells, and finally the " Golden Fleece, "a reenactment with a delightful procession of characters in period costume, carriages and horses.
As we have seen the surprises that await us in the Marche and Abruzzo are many, these regions have to offer excellent tourist facilities as well as a clean sea, a great sensitivity towards the environment as well as unexpected landscapes, various activities in areas that constantly attracts many vacationers without letting go quest'affluenza to undermine the much desired space for relaxation after months of hard work or study.
So happy holidays to all, and that holiday or on our coast Marche, Abruzzo!
