Basilicata between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian

Basilicata, or the ancient Lucania is a region characterized by varied and unchanged from the naturalistic point of view. Predominantly hilly and mountainous Basilicata also overlooks the sea, washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea with a coastline that stretches for 63 kilometers. The tourism sector in general and more particularly the resort began to develop only recently, from the'60s with the creation of modern seaside resorts, which has in no way diminished the charming and fascinating landscape of this region by nature tutt 'now untouched.
To the west, between Calabria and Campania, it is washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea for a stretch of about 30 kilometers, made up of steep coasts and scoliosis with wonderful views of the limestone walls plunge into the sea. Driving along the coast facing the seaside resorts of Acquafredda, CERs, Fiumicello-Santa venere, Porto, typical fishing village, and Marina di Maratea Castrocucco equipped with bathing facilities. The lovers of fishing can make exciting excursions around San all'isolotto Ianni, located just in front of Marina di Maratea. Walking in the harbor in a charming, you can admire old vessels alongside modern boats.
A south side along the Ionian Sea, the coast on the Gulf of Taranto include tourist sites being significant development as Metaponto Lido, Lido di Policoro, Pisticci, Nova Siri and Scanzano Jonico, a development that in the last century has seen a significant increase of activity 'tourism with the creation of a system receptive of 115 structures. Along this stretch of coast facing extensive beaches next to green pine forests. The beaches are quiet, spacious and sandy, bordered by pine and eucalyptus. comes to appear briefly on the clear Ionian Sea. Beautiful and important archaeological finds can be admired from the mouth of Bradano and the Basento.
II archaeological site of Metapontum retains traces of a glorious past: the theater, the temple of Apollo Lido, the temple of Hera and the Temple of Aphrodite, the necropolis and especially Crucinia Tables Palatine, 15 Doric columns traba beautifully preserved .
The Lido di Policoro preserves in the National Museum of Sirėtide, located near the Castle which dominates the country, evidence of the important Greek colony in ruins was built.
Nova Siri also has ancient origins. The nearby Marina di Nova Siri, the Ionian sea, offers tourists beautiful villages and camping facilities, restaurants and hotels feature a refined and tasty cuisine. Further north, you reach Marina di Pisticci with extensive fine sandy beaches, well equipped in terms of tourism. Among the beaches and fields, we find the coastal pine forests.
Scanzano Ionian, is recent history, born of the works of land reclamation. The seaside resort is experiencing a phase of great development and is becoming a major tourist destination with tourist facilities that offer thousands of sites with the opportunity to spend a holiday with natural beauty, clean sea and excellent food.
